Absence of Short-Term Variability of CTA 102.

Short-time variations in intensity of about 40 percent, with a period of the order of 100 days, have been reported for the quasistellar radio source CTA 102 at 32.5-centimeter wavelength. We have observed CTA 102 at 25.5-centimeter wavelength over a 67-day, period and have detected no significant variations of intensity.

Linear Accelerating Superluminal Motion Model

Accelerating superluminal motions were detected recently by multi-epoch Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) observations. Here, a Linear Accelerating Superluminal Motion (LASM) model is proposed to interpret the observed phenomena. The model provides a direct and accurate way to estimate the viewing angle of a relativistic jet. It also predicts that both Doppler boosting and deboosting eff...

Extending Special Relativity to Superluminal Motion

Experiments done with single photon in the early 1990’s produced a surprising result: that single photon pass through a photon tunnel barrier with a group velocity faster than the vacuum speed of light. Recently, a series of experiments revealed that electromagnetic wave was able to travel at a group velocity faster than c. These phenomena have been observed in dispersive media. We think all pa...

Superluminal motion and closed signal curves

We discuss some properties of Lorentz invariant theories which allow for superluminal motion. We show that, if signals are always sent forward in time, closed curves along which signals propagate can be formed. This leads to problems with causality and with the second law of thermodynamics. Only if one singles out one frame with respect to which all signals travel forward in time, the formation...

Motion tracking of left ventricle and coronaries in 4D CTA

In this paper, we present a novel approach for simultaneous motion tracking of left ventricle and coronary arteries from cardiac Computed Tomography Angiography (CTA) images. We first use the multi-scale vesselness filter proposed by Frangi et al. to enhance vessels in the cardiac CTA images. The vessel centrelines are then extracted as the minimal cost path from the enhanced images. The centre...
